Paint Correction in New Hampshire: Swirl and Scratch Removal

Is your paint covered in swirls, light scratches, or a dull, hazy look? Paint correction removes those defects instead of hiding them. IMS Detailing does all paint correction indoors at our Hooksett shop and works with drivers across Southern New Hampshire.

What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is careful machine polishing of your vehicle's clear coat. It levels the surface to remove defects, not cover them with fillers or glaze. The result is clearer reflections and deeper gloss that stays after you wash the car.

Defects We Correct

  • Swirl marks: fine circular scratches, often left by automatic car washes and dirty towels, that show up in sunlight.
  • Light scratches: surface marks in the clear coat from brushes, keys, branches, or daily use. (Scratches that go through the clear coat may need touch-up or paint work. We'll tell you honestly at inspection.)
  • Oxidation: faded, chalky, or dull paint caused by sun and age.
  • Light water spots: mineral etching left behind when hard water dries on the paint.

Our Paint Correction Process

  1. Inspection. We look at your paint under shop lighting and talk through what you want to fix.
  2. Wash and decontamination. We fully clean the paint and remove bonded contaminants so we don't polish grit into the finish.
  3. Masking. We tape off trim, rubber, and edges.
  4. Machine polishing. We match the polish level to your paint's condition and the result you want.
  5. Final wipe-down and review. We check the finish under lighting before you pick up the car.

Every vehicle is different, so we'll go over timing with you when you book.

Paint Correction FAQs

How much does paint correction cost?

It varies per vehicle. Our range is $300 to $1,000, depending on vehicle size, paint condition, and the result you want. Call (603) 518-8070 for a quote.

Can paint correction remove every scratch?

It removes swirls, light scratches, oxidation, and light water spots in the clear coat. Scratches that go through the clear coat may need touch-up or paint work, and we'll tell you at inspection.

Is paint correction the same as a wax or glaze?

No. Wax and glaze fill in or hide defects for a short time. Paint correction polishes the clear coat to remove them.

Should I get paint correction before a ceramic coating?

Yes, if your paint has visible defects. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so correcting first gives the best finish.

Where do you do paint correction?

Inside our shop at 78 Londonderry Turnpike, Unit G3, Hooksett, NH. All of our work is done indoors.
